What is included

For a single computer we do it by hand; for an estate of ten machines or more we prepare an image, which is several times faster and gives identical workstations.

Discuss the scope

Preparation

We copy the data, export the mail and save bookmarks and licence keys.

System installation

Windows or Linux with current updates and drivers for the specific hardware.

Software

Installed from an agreed list rather than from the user memory.

Restoring data

Documents, mail and application settings back where they were.

Joining the domain

Connecting to the user directory, applying policies and mapping network drives.

An image for the estate

A reference image from which identical workstations are deployed.

How the work runs

One machine takes a few hours. An estate of twenty workstations from an image takes one to two days.

01

Inventory

What is installed, where the data sits, which licences and specialist applications exist.

02

Backup

A full copy before starting. Always, even when it seems there is nothing important there.

03

Installation

System, drivers, updates and software.

04

Restore and check

Data, mail and printing. We check with the user that everything is in place.

The data is almost never where the user thinks it is. The desktop, the downloads folder, a local mail archive, files inside an application directory. That is why a full disk image is taken before a reinstall rather than selectively copying the folders that seem important.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, if the procedure is followed. We take a full disk image before starting and restore the data after the installation. The copy is kept for some time afterwards in case something turns up later.

Not always. The cause is often insufficient memory, a mechanical hard drive or a dozen applications in startup. We look at what is happening first: replacing the drive with an SSD usually helps more than a clean system.

Before reinstalling we collect the keys and accounts. For software tied to hardware we check in advance whether it can be transferred. That is exactly where people trip up when reinstalling on their own.

We will reinstall your systems

Tell us how many machines there are and what has to run on them. For an estate we will prepare an image, which is faster and cheaper.
