Hardware monitoring
Availability, load, temperature, port errors and power supply status.
We monitor not only availability but quality: a link can respond while still dropping packets.
Availability, load, temperature, port errors and power supply status.
Speed, latency and packet loss for each provider separately.
Regular simulation of a primary link failure. A backup that has never been tested usually does not work.
Firewall rules, contractor access and the guest network.
Device firmware in agreed windows, with a rollback plan.
The diagram and configurations kept current rather than written once at deployment.
Connecting monitoring takes a few days. After that the work runs continuously with monthly reporting.
What the hardware is, which links exist and who is connected.
Metric collection, alert thresholds and routing notifications to the duty engineer.
Updates, default passwords and unnecessary open access.
Responding to events, planned maintenance and reports on incidents and load.
A backup link nobody has tested is not a backup, it is hope. It may have been cut off for non-payment, configured incorrectly, or require manual switching. A quarterly test turns hope into fact.
At minimum: device availability, link utilisation, port errors and free space on devices that keep logs. That catches most problems early. Extend it as incidents arise.
To the duty engineer, not to a shared mailbox. An alert that is read once a day is no different from no alert at all. Thresholds are tuned so there is no flood of false positives, otherwise people stop noticing them.
Not necessarily. For typical infrastructure, open source is enough and we deploy and configure it. Commercial systems are justified with many sites and complex reporting requirements.
Tell us how many sites you have and what the hardware is. We will connect monitoring and route alerts to the duty engineer.
