What is included

The monthly fee covers day-to-day work. Projects such as an office move, an implementation or cabling installation are quoted separately, and the boundary is agreed before the contract.

Discuss the scope

User support

Employee requests: software, access, email, printing and small breakdowns.

Server maintenance

Updates, monitoring, disk space checks and backup verification.

Network administration

Hardware, links, Wi-Fi and contractor access.

Scheduled work

What is done to a plan rather than in response to an incident: preventive maintenance, updates and cleaning.

Records and documentation

An infrastructure dossier, a list of hardware and licences and the network diagram.

Reporting

Once a month: how many requests, how many within target and what was done as planned.

How the work runs

The first month is assessment and tidying up. After that the work settles into a regular rhythm.

01

Audit

Inventory of hardware, licences and access, backup checks and the network diagram.

02

Handover

We record in a certificate the state in which the infrastructure was received. That protects both sides.

03

Tidying up

We close the critical items: backups, updates, shared passwords and ports exposed to the internet.

04

Ongoing work

Requests, scheduled work, and a report and meeting once a month.

The result of the first month is an infrastructure dossier. A document with the network diagram and lists of hardware, licences and accounts. It is useful to you in any case and stays yours however the relationship with the contractor develops.

Frequently asked questions

Usually from 10 to 15 workstations. Below that, one-off call-outs are enough. Above 100 workstations a hybrid is often more sensible: your own person inside plus outsourcing for servers, security and the second line.

Project work: an office move, cabling installation, implementing a new system, buying hardware. These are quoted separately and the boundary is fixed in the contract so there is nothing to argue about later.

From the number of workstations and servers, the support hours and the required response time. The number of sites and any specialist systems also matter. The final figure is fixed for the term of the contract.
