What is included

A cabinet is not furniture but an engineering structure: temperature, access and order in the server room all depend on it.

Discuss the scope

Choosing the cabinet

Height in units with headroom, depth for the longest device, type of door.

Racks and shelves

Mounting for equipment, shelves for devices without brackets, rails for servers.

Cable management

Organisers, patch panels, labelling. Untangling a cable mess later costs hours of work.

Power

Power distribution units with the required number of sockets and consumption monitoring.

Climate

Ventilation modules, and room air conditioning where equipment is densely packed.

Earthing and access

An earthing loop, lockable doors and, where required, door sensors.

How the work runs

Supply and installation usually take a week. It only takes longer if the room itself has to be prepared.

01

Calculation

We count units, depth, heat output and power consumption from the list of equipment.

02

Selection

Cabinet, accessories, power distribution units, ventilation.

03

Installation

Assembly, mounting, cable management with labelling.

04

Moving equipment

Careful relocation of equipment in service with minimal downtime.

A storage cupboard without ventilation is the most common server room in small business. In summer the temperature reaches forty degrees and equipment either shuts down protectively or degrades. Supply ventilation or a domestic air conditioner is cheap next to replacing a server.

Frequently asked questions

Count the units in use and multiply by roughly one and a half, since equipment gets added. For depth, take the longest device plus 15 centimetres for cables at the back. Servers often do not fit into shallow cabinets designed for network equipment.

Wall mounted suits network equipment and shallow depth: a router, a switch, a patch panel. Servers need a floor standing cabinet: they are heavy and long, and wall mounting has a load limit.

It depends on the heat output. One or two network devices manage with ventilation. Several servers in a closed room without windows require air conditioning with power to spare and, preferably, redundancy.

We will put a server room together

Tell us which equipment has to be housed and where. We will calculate the cabinet, the power and the cooling.
