Saving on memory pays back worst of all. The difference between 8 and 16 gigabytes is small at purchase, but the first configuration starts to lag within a year, and you pay twice: for the upgrade and for the time your staff lost.

Frequently asked questions

Desktops are cheaper at the same performance, easier to repair and live longer. Laptops are needed where mobility exists: managers, sales staff, engineers in the field. A mixed fleet is normal practice, the main thing is not to buy laptops for everyone out of habit.

One system image for the whole company, one set of drivers, one model in the replacement stock, predictable consumables. When there are ten models, every request turns into a small investigation.

Some of it can be moved to less demanding tasks or turned into thin clients for virtual desktops. The rest is written off, and the drives must be wiped properly, since they still hold company data.
