Links between offices
A permanent protected connection between sites with redundancy.
The design is chosen to match the task: a permanent link between sites and the connection of individual users are built differently.
A permanent protected connection between sites with redundancy.
Connecting staff from home and from trips with two factor authentication.
Separate accounts with restricted rights and an expiry date.
Solutions supporting national algorithms where the regulations demand it.
A second factor for every external connection without exception.
A log of who connected and when, automatic disconnection of idle sessions.
A typical project for two or three sites takes one to two weeks including testing.
We determine who has to reach whom and which resources have to be available. Almost nobody needs full access to the whole network.
We deploy the gateways and configure routing and access rules by group.
We connect the second factor and issue and configure it for the staff.
We test failover to the backup link and prepare instructions for the users.
The mistake that occurs most often: the VPN gives access to the entire network. An employee connecting from home can see the servers, other people workplaces and the equipment. Access has to be limited to the resources the person genuinely needs.
Government customers do, and so does data transfer in certain cases. A commercial company is usually fine with widely used protocols. We clarify this before the design work, because the choice affects the equipment.
Technically yes, in practice we strongly advise against it. A stolen or guessed VPN password gives an attacker exactly what walking into the office would. A second factor closes that almost entirely.
Encryption loads the equipment, and on weak routers that is exactly where the link hits its limit. We calculate the required performance in advance from the number of users and the volume of traffic between sites.
Tell us how many sites and remote staff you have. We will propose a design with redundancy and cost the equipment.
